35 youths attended Camp ΟΙΚΟΣ held at Oldham Hall and Sophia Blackmore hall.
"ΟΙΚΟΣ" is Greek for "home" or "family". In the context of Christianity, 'family' extends beyond blood relations, ethnicity, time and space.
"To all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:12-13
To be in the family of God means to be loved by God and belong in God's kingdom, and we are to extend the same to our family in Christ.
Ps William, Pr Lai Kein, and Ps Ling preached simple yet powerful messages that drilled into the youths what family meant and how we can achieve this.
The games also challenged them to work together and symbolized the difficulties they will have to go through together as a family in Christ.
This camp was pivotal as there were many stepping up to lead and care for each other. Several youths encountered God at the last session when Ps Ling gave the altar call for the youths to respond to be committed to this family. Most of them stayed back till 11pm to continue praying and be in the presence of God!
Many youths felt were much closer to each other after the camp than before the camp. Praise the Lord for giving us a glimpse of what a family of Christ looks like!
We thank God who made his presence known to those who have never experienced him before. And we thank the leaders of Cairnhill Methodist who supported and prayed for this camp that bore fruit. More ripples of revivals to come!
